    Prerequisites for Internet based connection to the Mobile network

    If you wish to connect your system to an SMS service provider over the Internet you need the following components:

    In this case you need to find an SMS service provider who can reach the mobile phones in your area. This SMS service provider should be able to provide SMS service through the Internet. To find such a provider, you can check our website where we list some of them: SMPP SMS Service providers. Once you have found such a provider, you need to sign up for their service to get the connection parameters. You can use these parameters to configure your Ozeki NG SMS Gateway software.

    Prerequisites for wireless (GSM modem) connection to the Mobile network

    If you wish to connect your system to the mobile network wirelessly, you need a GSM modem or GSM phone, that you can attach to your computer with a data cable. In this case your Ozeki NG SMS Gateway software will operate this phone and will send and receive SMS messages wirelessly. To setup this connection method, you need the following components:

    System architecture

    If you meet the above mentioned requirements, you can start building your system based on SMS technology. It will work as follows: First, the IP address of the computer on which Ozeki NG SMS Gateway has been installed needs to be provided in MS Exchange 2010. If there is an incoming e-mail message for a given user, MS Exchange 2007 will forward it to the built-in SMTP server of Ozeki NG SMS Gateway. The gateway processes it and sends the message as SMS text message to a given mobile device. It is also possible to send SMS messages from mobile phones to the corporate IT system. Ozeki NG SMS Gateway connects to the SMTP server of MS Exchange and sends incoming text messages as e-mail messages. This process can be examined in Figure 2. SMS messages can be sent to the mobile network with a GSM phone or GSM modem attached to the computer with a cable, or over the Internet with IP SMS connection.

    Please note that it is more secure to send messages using a GSM modem through the airwaves to the recipient, than through an Internet based SMS service provider account, because it is significantly harder to intercept an SMS message traveling through the air, than it is to intercept internet traffic.

    How to implement the solution

    To send SMS from Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 with the help of Ozeki NG SMS Gateway you need to do the follows: First you need to create users and contact information in Active Directory. (It is supposed that you have already installed on your computer. Then you need to enter Exchange to create mailboxes. After this you have to do some configuration in Exchange to forward the mailbox of the user to the SMTP server of Ozeki NG SMS Gateway.
