Benefits
There are several advantages if you implement this solution in
your corporate IT system as SMS messages makes a fast and efficient
communication possible. SMS messages are forwarded without Internet connection
while you cannot receive your e-mail messages if there is line breakage or no
connection in the office. In this way you can ensure availability as SMS
messages are sent to the mobile phones of the intended people even if they are
away from the office. Furthermore, you or the intended person can receive the
SMS messages immediately on the cellphone so no delays are possible. With this
solution you can improve corporate communication within and outside of your
company while you save time and money.
Prerequisites
In order to setup this solution you need to find a way
to connect your system to the mobile network. You can do this
by using an Internet connection or you can
setup a wireless connection by attaching a GSM phone/GSM modem to your computer. To help you make a
decision, we have prepared a webpage for you:
Internet based SMS connections vs. GSM modem based (wireless) SMS connections.
Depending
on what you select, you need the following prerequisites.
Prerequisites for Internet based connection to the Mobile network
If you wish to connect your system to an SMS service
provider over the Internet you need the following components:

Gateway IP SMS connection
In this case you need to find an SMS service
provider who can reach the mobile phones in your area. This SMS
service provider should be able to provide SMS service through
the Internet. To find such a provider, you can check our
website where we list some of them:
SMPP SMS Service providers.
Once you have found such a provider, you need to sign up for
their service to get the connection parameters. You can use these parameters
to configure your Ozeki NG SMS Gateway software.
Prerequisites for wireless (GSM modem) connection to the Mobile network
If you wish to connect your system to the mobile
network wirelessly, you need a GSM modem or GSM phone, that you
can attach to your computer with a data cable. In this case your Ozeki
NG SMS Gateway software will operate this phone and will send and receive
SMS messages wirelessly. To setup this connection method, you need the following
components:

Your checklist (for GSM modem connection):
*The SIM card will come with a plan, that will
determine how much money you will spend on each SMS.
System architecture
If you meet with the above mentioned requirements of Ozeki NG
SMS Gateway, you can start to build your SMS system. It will work as follows:
In case of incoming e-mail messages, Ozeki NG SMS Gateway forwards them to
mobile phones as SMS messages. While SMS messages are forwarded as e-mail
messages to the computer. The detailed system architecture of
e-mail forwarding in MS Exchange can be examined on its installation guide page
. The detailed system architecture diagram on how to send SMS from
the e-mail user interface of Ozeki NG SMS Gateway
is on the setup instructions page. Ozeki NG SMS Gateway forwards messages
to the mobile network either with a GSM modem attached to the computer with a
data cable or it connects to the SMS center of the mobile service provider over
the Internet.

Please note that it is more secure to send messages
using a GSM modem through the airwaves to the recipient, than
through an Internet based SMS service provider account, because it is
significantly harder to intercept an SMS message traveling through the air,
than it is to intercept internet traffic. If it is recommended you can
increase capacity if you attach more than one modem to the computer.
Comparison of e-mail forwarding and e-mail user interface
| | E-mail user | E-mail forwarding |
| Continuously check MS Exchange 2003 Server for new incoming messages |
Yes | No |
| Using POP3 client and server | Yes | No |
| Using built-in SMTP server of Ozeki NG SMS Gateway | No |
Yes |
| Uses bandwidth | Almost all the time | Only if there is
an incoming e-mail or SMS message |
| Exchange Server 2003 needs to be configured after creating user's mail
boxes | No | Yes |
The e-mail user solution is recommended if you cannot access to
MS Exchange Server 2003 (for example if you are only a user of this application).
In this case Ozeki NG SMS Gateway with the e-mail user will function as an e-mail
client.
The e-mail forwarding is an effective solution if there is a possibility to
configure MS Exchange Server 2003 after the creation of user's mailboxes. In
this case the built-in SMTP server of Ozeki NG SMS Gateway functions as a
secondary e-mail address that will forward the incoming e-mail messages as SMS
messages to cellphones.
How to implement these solutions
The first solution demonstrates how to send SMS
messages from MS Exchange 2003 with e-mail forwarding. This solution can be
implemented if you configure MS Exchange 2003 and Ozeki NG SMS Gateway to be able
to send and receive SMS messages. First, you need to start MS Exchange 2003 and
set a mail box for the user in Active Directory. Then you need to define a
contact for this user and in the properties of the user you set the secondary
e-mail address. In Ozeki NG SMS Gateway, you need to install the E-mail user
interface to connect to MS Exchange and then set the SMTP server of MS Exchange
2003.

The other solution uses the e-mail user interface
of Ozeki NG SMS Gateway to send and receive SMS messages. In this
possibility you only need to configure Ozeki NG SMS Gateway to send SMS messages.
After you log into Ozeki NG SMS Gateway, you need to install a new e-mail user
and then you need to configure this new user to send and receive messages.

performance ensures high capacity and reliable operation. With the
